Outdoor Aluminium Storage Boxes
Aluminium boxes that change size without a new mould.
Every size we quote is folded from flat sheet. A new capacity, a new opening, a moved handle — that is a drawing change, not a tooling invoice. That is the whole reason brand teams come to us when they already have a supplier and already need a V2.
Why folded aluminium beats an injection mould for this product
Outdoor storage boxes live on iteration: a 50 L, then a 69 L, then a side-opening lid, then a rail for a camp table. Each of those is a new mould in plastic and a drawing revision in aluminium.
No tooling cost on a new size
A 40 L to 98 L change is a flat-pattern and a bend program. Nothing is cut, nothing is scrapped, nothing is invoiced as a mould.
1.5 or 2.0 mm, your call
Wall thickness follows the load case, not a mould draft angle. 1.5 mm for a boot box, 2.0 mm where a stack of four carries the weight.
Repair and re-latch in the field
Rivets, hinges and latches are replaceable hardware on a folded body. A cracked moulding is a warranty write-off.
Finish is a line item, not a mould texture
Powder coat in any RAL, anodised, or matte black. Texture and colour changes never touch the tooling.
Current sizes in production
Three bodies cover most of the volume sold in this category. Anything between them is arithmetic on a drawing — we will quote it the same week.
| Ref | Outer L × W × H | Volume | Wall | Body weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SX-40 | 560 × 360 × 200 mm | 40 L | 1.5 mm | 7.4 kg |
| SX-62 | 660 × 460 × 205 mm | 62 L | 1.5 mm | 9.8 kg |
| SX-98 | 800 × 560 × 220 mm | 98 L | 2.0 mm | 13.5 kg |
What the line actually looks like
Ten references from the factory floor: open-top camp boxes, folding lids, camp-kitchen layouts with a side-rail system, anodised and matte black finishes. Same body, different configuration — which is the point.
What you can change without paying for tooling
Everything below is a drawing change. That is the commercial difference between us and a plastics house — and usually the reason a second conversation happens.
Lid
Open top, full lid with hinge and gas strut, folding two-panel lid, or a lid that doubles as a work surface.
Latches & locks
Draw latches, over-centre catches, keyed cam locks, or a padlock tab. Hardware is off-the-shelf and replaceable.
Side rails & mounting
T-slot rail, L-track, molle panel, or a plate for a fridge slide. Position and count are yours.
Corner & edge
Cast corners, rubber feet, stacking dimples, or castors. Stacking is a dimple pattern, not a mould change.
Surface
Powder coat to RAL, clear or black anodise, brushed finish. Colour changes cost a batch, not a tool.
Interior
Dividers, foam, EVA inserts, a bag. Cut from sheet or sourced — quoted as a line item per set.
From drawing to first container
Four steps, and the only fixed cost is the sample.
Drawing review
Send a PDF, a DXF, or a photo with dimensions. We come back with a flat pattern and a question list — usually within two days.
Sample in 12 days
One to three units, finished as production. From $180 depending on size and finish. Sample cost is credited against the first order.
300 pcs, 35 days
Bend, weld where the drawing needs it, powder coat, assemble hardware, inspect, pack. One size per run; mixed containers are priced separately.
FOB Shanghai or Ningbo
We handle export packing and the forwarder handover. ISTA-relevant drop testing is quoted as an option, not assumed.
Send a drawing. Get a flat pattern back.
If you already sell an aluminium box and are adding a size, say which size and what it has to fit. That is enough to start.
